Assorted Bullet Pointy Things

* I am pretty sure I have not mentioned here that I'm on a bowling league. It's silly and low-key (which is good because I am an awful bowler) and with [info]sparly and [info]girthygrizelda and our moms. Anyway, our second night was tonight, is all. Yeah, I have bowling on Wednesdays, because I am secretly a 65 year old man. That, or awesome.

* I just got Netflix and spend waaaaaaaaaay too much time rating movies and adding things to my queue. There are like 80 things in it, and I've had Netflix for three days. (Like, three actual days, that isn't an exaggeration.)

* It is still [info]forcedmovement's birthday here! Happy, happy, happy birthday, dude! I am so glad I know you and that we've gotten to hang out in person. THERE WILL BE MORE HANG OUTS!!!

* A thing you should know about me is that I am a whore for DVD commentaries, especially actor commentaries. I have legit bought shows on DVD just to have the commentaries. (Why, Kelsey, I see you just signed up for Netflix. Are these two points related? Shut up.) Anyway, I was watching the commentary for the pilot of Life a bit ago. It was my first time hearing Damien Lewis' British voice! ...I don't know how to feel about it. Well, I mean, I feel fine about it. It's the man's VOICE for heaven's sake, but, he's not Dick Winters (spoiler alert). The commentary actually talked about BoB for a second, and people were fangirling Dick Winters and DLew was all "... ... Yeah. That's right" about it, which both made me sad and also made me giggle.

* I did that name anagram thing earlier and my full name came out as "LADYLIKE, MEASURED COOLNESS" which I think is awesome. I'm kind of tempted to make it my user name since I'm not super attached to "secret rumor baby".

* I maybe have 2,000 words of Jonas Brothers fic written?

* Oh! I know the thing that was actually (vaguely, mildly) important that I wanted to say. Which is, I have collected a few new friends since June-ish. And if you wanted to ask me questions about who I am/what I'm into/what my life's like, I would totally answer them. (No one ever plays memes with me and yet I still try. Whatever. I'd like it if you played.)

Here are some things I was going to post about last night but then I was quarterlife crisis-y and emo and then just wanted to be happy so I Jonasspamed.

Sports Night - is a show that has been referenced and rec'd on my friends list off and on pretty much since I joined LJ. And I finally started watching it. And mainlined it. It is pretty awesome, not gonna lie. So if people wanted to talk to me about that, or link me to epic fluffy Dan-and-Casey-in-love-forever fic, I would not say no.

Jonathan Jackson is coming back to play Lucky on General Hospital (which, aha, I totally forgot to watch this afternoon. I knew there was something I meant to watch). Little known fact, General Hospital was my first fandom, circa 1998ish. And was totally all about the Lucky/Liz relationship. I totally Googled for my fic last night but didn't find any, thank god. I was 13. I haven't watched the show regularly in a few years, but I've kept up somewhat. Anyway, I'm kind of excited about this.

Sometimes I think, when I'm making picspams of brothers in love, about how and why I am where I am fannishly. Like I'm not sure I could be doing the Jonas Brothers thing if I hadn't had bandom, and I'm not sure I'd have been able to be fully in bandom without RENT and, anyway, you get the idea. I've had static fandoms, movies or musicals where there isn't a lot more canon to bring in, and tv fandoms, but in retrospect, having GH, a show that airs 5 days a week 52 weeks a year (pretty much) probably really helped set me up for the ability to have an RPF fandom. Because it's a lot of canon CONSTANTLY. So, that.

Hey, Band of Brothers. Yep, that's my segue and I'm sticking to it. I watched "The Breaking Point" yesterday. I think I was kind of mixing it and "Bastogne" up. Because I like "Bastogne". Roe ♥♥♥. "The Breaking Point" is good, but, yeah, it breaks me. And I'm busy still being mad at Webster (reality, what?) and so not super psyched for "The Last Patrol". But "Why We Fight" and "Points" and true loooooove.

Okay. I'm done now. Have a meme:

Name a fandom, and I will tell you my:

I feel like so far I've mostly spent this week watching the clock. Metaphorically. In actuality I've been refreshing my flist compulsively looking for a certain update and stalking the tracking information on a certain shipment from a Dell Inc.

I am pretty sure my soon-to-be laptop is already named, but I will have to look at it in person before I decide for sure. (Some of you will judge me, that's cool, my desktop's name is BROCCOLI.)

Besides that rivetingness, I have mostly spent my time lately watching tv on the internet. And by tv, I basically mean vehicles for Band of Brothers actors. By which I mean Ron Livingston and Damian Lewis (who I keep calling Damien Winters because I do not understand this acting concept). Watched all two seasons of Life which I'd only seen random eps of and which was awesome. Dick Winters makes the funny! And angsts and eats a lot of fruit. Watched Defying Gravity (or, as I like to call it Ron Livingston: Space Slut) which is entertainingly terrible. In which they try to get me to ship Daisy Adair/the-alien-queen-from-The-Faculty with Captain Lewis Nixon and it is maybe slowly starting to work. I am excited for my imaginary guest-starring spots for Damian LEWIS (whatever, his fiancee was randomly on his last show, nepotism or friendism or people-you're-screwingism is rad) and Michael Cudlitz (who has guested/been a regular on both of RLiv and DLew's previous shows. Playing terrifying people and not playing Bull Randleman. ...I really don't understand acting.)

I also went shopping on Saturday and spent SO MUCH money-I-only-kind-of-have. But I only bought a couple of totally frivolous things and a few things I don't actually need RIGHT NOW, mostly they were all totally worthwhile.

...I am boring. Talk to me!

ETA: MY LAPTOP IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have named him Nix. Because he dresses sharp and knows stuff. Shut up.

I have a problem

To whom it may concern, Spike TV is having a Band of Brothers marathon today and tomorrow. It is already in progress, but, you know, there that is. Probably pretty heavily censored given, um, limbs, but, BoB!

Also, (those of you who follow my twitter already know thins) I was bored this morning and there was a documentary thing on the Military History channel (yes, whatever, shut up) about 502nd WWII paratroopers so I flipped over to it and the narrator's voice was crazy familiar and I was all "Oh, me, I now associate Ron Livingston with WWII so hard that I'm hallucinating his voice. Awesome." And then it actually WAS RLiv and not just his voice! His actual body in really flattering jeans and a black cable knit sweater and I really just wanted to wrap myself around him and never let go. But! Documentary! Brothers in Arms. Obviously a different division than Easy Company, but fairly similar stories and a few familiar names. Anyway, it was interesting, but, mostly RLiv.

*sigh* Remember when I used to be normal? Or less weird anyway? I blame Easy Academy. Which is now officially getting a tag. Because I have a problem. Or several.

" Why don't you just give it up?" "Drinking?" "No, hiding it in my foot locker"

My life is hard, guys. I am trying to decide between spending my Friday night re-reading [info]easy_academy or watching Life.

I, yeah. The other day someone asked me what my current fandom was (or, okay, actually they asked me what I "was into lately", but, they basically meant fandom) and I accidentally answered "Easy Academy" instead of bandom or the Jonas Brothers/Disney. Fortunately they were kind of went "Huh. Never heard of it. Have fun!" and moved on. And I breathed a giant sigh of relief and then spent the rest of the day trying to decide if Easy really is my new fandom. That is fictional. In that it is actually a fanfic.

ANYWAY. Continued my re-watch of Band of Brothers today, but it was "Crossroads" which I really love a lot on its own and am super bummed [info]citibyrd didn't get to watch because there is a lot of Nix/Winters in it and other awesomeness (oh, hey there Tom Hanks' glaringly obvious crush on Damian Lewis). I couldn't deal with "Bastogne" yet, though, much as I love Doc Roe like a burning thing that loves burning things. So I just stuck with the one episode. Also my dvd player is sucking lately so I've been using family tvs to watch which can get kind of weird. Band of Brothers makes SO MUCH more sense on the re-watch, though. Wow. The first four or so episodes are really not so clear on original watch.

Also also, I may be losing my mind, but I feel that someone on my flist ranked BoB episodes from least favorite to favorite, and now that I've actually seen it, I would like to re-read that list. But I can't find it. Help? (Or just rank your own favorites, would be fine too!)

...I am sorry that this post alienates 94% of my flist (yes, I did that math), but I am too squicked by Zack Hall linking fic on twitter to deal with bandom today.

things that make me go SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

My Band of Brothers dvds came today. (In my defense, they're under $40 new on Amazon. That's a good deal, okay?!) [info]citibyrd and I have watched 2 1/2 episodes so far.

And then there was a new chapter of [info]easy_academy posted for me to glee about. Made of win.

Also today a new computer got ordered for me. 4 GB memory, 500 GB hard drive. My current computer? 256 MB memory, 80 GB hard drive. Yeah. So, I'm pretty excited about that too. But, um, any suggestions on how to transfer stuff from old computer to new one cheaply?

Aaaand tomorrow after I get off work at 1, [info]citibyrd and I are going drive down to Laguna Beach for candy (there's this awesome store I keep meaning to go to but haven't actually gone to in years) and sightseeing and then probably Newport Beach for swimming since I don't like Main Beach in Laguna for that. It feels strangely exposed there. Or possibly we'll go to Huntington for swimming 'cause of the three it really is the best swimming beach but there's nothing around and Newport has the pier and restaurants and stuff. Hopefully it won't be a late night, but twitter/text if you need me.

...I was supposed to go to bed 2 hours ago, damn you, Easy!
